Paul is Great!

Loved the Face Off.

I gravitate to caffeine and sweet and cacao is worse for me because the Addict says, "But this is raw it's okay." Which is harder to break away from than a Hershey's bar which I KNOW is c@#p!

Thank you Matt and Angelea for all of the great episodes.

LOVE your mother and bro.

The first couple of show you had the neighbor who is studying ecological agriculture or some such thing. Could we hear more from him.

It is good to see Paul arguing/ debating with you.

Since hearing Paul a while back I have been working on that temperance thing. Basically the main problem is night eating.
Portion size I am doing better with. No need to eat a super large salad that takes 45 minutes to eat or 10 minutes if you do not chew properly.

Did you leave Angela in PA? Hopefully we will see her this week. So much fun to see the both of you together.

That was great. I love you both!

That was fantastic! Can't wait for tomorrow! I have been raw for about 55 days now, my husband is about 50% so I don't consider us very "clean" yet. At about day 40 we made some "raw" cacao ice cream. We ate a small bowl each at around 7 pm and could not fall asleep until after 2 am... definitely overstimulating! I thought there must be something wrong with us by the way it affected us...so many people tout the "benefits" of raw cacao. Glad to hear some science on the subject. Going to look at Paul's web-site now...Thanks!

I SO agree with Matt!

When I first went raw I thought I couldn't LIVE without my raw chocolate smoothies! I had one every single day!

But now I've been raw for a while, I still have some raw cacao powder, but I can't remember the last time I wanted a chocolate smoothie.

I'm glad to see you two can duke it out and still leave with a smile :)

Matt , paul is 100% right , so stop selling that cracao and some other junk and leave only healthy foods.
YOu need to walk the talk and not to give up yr principles for money.

I have also recently admitted to myself that my daily "raw" cacao smoothie is making me "high" and sometimes headachy (pre-raw, I didn't even drink coffee or coca cola, so I probably have more caffeine now than I ever did before). I kidded myself that the raw cacao pushers in England must be right, and it's a SUPER FOOD! because it was convenient for me to believe this.

In the last few days, I've replaced my daily cacao, with carob powder, and I've been experiencing the most intense migraine, Ouch!

It's funny how we kid ourselves!

I've always appreciated Paul Nison...and he makes me laugh :)

Matt is cool! People need to figure it out on their own, everyBODY is different. raw cacao is probably a better substitute than a typical similar s.a.d. food. why not? it might help some stay RAW!

Hi Matt ! Great video. I would love to see you interviewing David Wolfe and Shazzie on this subject. Maybe they agree with Paul but their business is created around the cacao. very interesting video. i will cut all my raw cacao and see what happens. Another crap one to explore is Macca ! I feel sick every time I have that. ! Please do a show on maca !!! Cheers

I noticed during the Raw Food Panel at the Raw Yoga Expo that nobody mentioned Teeccino. http://www.teeccino.com/Default.aspx
There was a woman there asking how to get off of her caffeine addiction and her coffee habit. Everyone mentioned herbal tea but the problem is that tea doesn't satisfy that transitional craving.
I reduced my coffee an ounce a day until I was down to none, but on cold mornings, when I really craved coffee, I would get my fix with a cup of Teeccino. Now I rarely even drink that, but it was a wonderful coffee substitute.
Oh, and about the cacao...
I don't use cacao for medicinal purposes nor as a nutritional supplement. I use it for great flavoring. I like a chocolate milkshake flavored with cacao and packed full of kale and spinach. Life is good. Cacao makes it better. *wink*

Thank you for publishing the opposing view points re. Cacao. I personally agree with Mat and baby steps. If Cacao is right for now then cool, as long as it is a step in the right direction on the path to a minimal fresh only raw diet. I am back on raw and on day 16 with the help of Mat and Angela's daily videos. Thank you both. So life is supposed to fun not a sentence and trusting one's own body and life journey then I believe that I will naturally and happily keep removing foods from my diet which I now wish to. Love to everyone. xxxxx

paul nison's views are a little to extreme for me. cant people just enjoy life. matt you are the best. you are so right... if someone becomes too clean then it is harder to handle cacao..but in someone who is cooked, cacao may be beneficial when replacing coffee/energy drinks. its more important to view food as an energy source and not put it on such a pedestal that we have to take healthy foods and say they are unhealthy. the cacao debate is an individual thing..some people dont handle it well, others do. let people be lol. LOVE YOU MATT! way to stand your ground!!!!

ps. i think a lot of people avoid raw foods because of certain people like paul who tell them to be fanatical and avoid healthy raw foods..or ocassional raw junk food. no offense to him- he is probably a great being.

Matt, I like the more moderate view of yours. You seem to realize that you can drive people away from this diet if they think that it is just too extreme. I know that with myself I will tend to feel discouraged with the raw diet when I am around people who tell me what I am doing is not right. However, my maybe less than perfect attempt at the raw lifestyle is a far sight better than my diet when I am eating cooked foods. Keeping things moderate and not putting a lot of rules on people is how to help them eat a living diet.
I love your show and think you and Angelea are wonderful people :)

cacao has never had any negative affects on me no matter how long its been since ive had it or how large of an amount i consume. im 100% raw, never was into coffee, gave up soda years and years ago. so it is very possible for cacao to not be bad for every single person. if u want a treat, ulimana brownies are wonderful.

I stopped consuming cacao almost a month ago now and I feel so much better. Big difference. I sleep better too. I've been on a 100% raw diet for 11 years. On the first week of no cacao my body felt achy and had weird headaches (detox). I realized how addictive it is. I agree with Paul 100%, IT IS a stimulant, plus it's so DAMN EXPENSIVE!

I find raw cacao just makes me feel like crying (not in a good way), it makes me shaky and the day after consuming it my skin is sallow and dull.
Ani Phyo recommends putting Macca with it to support the adrenal glands.

Chocolate just like coffee triggers creates migraine from getting "off". If you don't take our cacao or coffee punctually every day, a migraine can follow, sometimes up to three days later. I tried to get off regular chocolate that I'm exposed to at work. unfortunately now I eat that chocolate plus the cacao and it's getting more. I find it addictive. Cacao/chocolate darken the auric energy and clog the liver. Also the color of the iris gets "smudgy" especially in hazel or greenish brown colored eyes. Now I need to find a way to get off all of this...
